Supplementary protections forming part of the LeadHippo.ca Terms of Service

1. Scope
These Legal Disclaimers form part of, and are incorporated into, the Lead Hippo Terms of Service. They apply to every visitor to and user of LeadHippo.ca and to every purchaser of an Opportunity. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms of Service. In the event of conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.
2. Marketplace-Only Disclaimer
LEAD HIPPO IS AN INFORMATION MARKETPLACE. IT IS NOT A CONTRACTOR, TRADE, AGENCY, BROKER, REFERRAL SERVICE, LICENSING BODY, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVISOR. LEAD HIPPO DOES NOT PERFORM, SUPERVISE, INSPECT, OR GUARANTEE ANY WORK; DOES NOT RECOMMEND OR ENDORSE ANY CONTRACTOR OR ANY HOMEOWNER; DOES NOT NEGOTIATE, PREPARE, OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY CONTRACT BETWEEN HOMEOWNERS AND CONTRACTORS; AND OWES NO AGENCY OR FIDUCIARY DUTIES TO ANY PERSON.
3. No Professional Advice
Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, construction, engineering, safety, or other professional advice. Content is provided for general information only. Contractors and homeowners are solely responsible for obtaining their own professional advice.
4. Homeowner-Provided Information
All project information in an Opportunity — including budget, timeline, scope, and photographs — is provided by the homeowner. Lead Hippo's verification is limited to the practices described on the Site (speaking with the homeowner and obtaining consent to share). Lead Hippo does not audit, inspect, or independently confirm project details, property ownership beyond the homeowner's own statements, financing, or intentions, and expressly disclaims all liability for inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading homeowner-provided information.
5. No Results Disclaimer
LEAD HIPPO MAKES NO REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY, OR GUARANTEE REGARDING OR IN CONNECTION WITH: ANY HOMEOWNER'S RESPONSIVENESS OR INTENTIONS; THE EXISTENCE, SIZE, BUDGET, TIMING, OR AWARD OF ANY PROJECT; THE QUANTITY OR QUALITY OF WORK ANY PURCHASER MAY OBTAIN; OR ANY RETURN ON ANY PURCHASE. PURCHASERS ASSUME ALL COMMERCIAL RISK.
6. Independent Relationships; No Liability for Work or Payment Disputes
Any relationship, quotation, contract, project, or dispute between a homeowner and a contractor is exclusively between those parties. Lead Hippo is not a party to, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law expressly disclaims all responsibility and liability for: workmanship or the quality, safety, legality, or completion of any work; permits, inspections, and code compliance; payment, non-payment, deposits, or liens; personal injury, illness, or property damage arising from any project or site visit; and the conduct, statements, honesty, licensing, or insurance status of any homeowner or contractor.
7. Address Disclaimer
Lead Hippo does not collect, store, sell, or disclose homeowner street addresses. Any disclosure of a property address is made by the homeowner personally, at the homeowner's sole discretion, directly to a contractor. Lead Hippo bears no responsibility for any disclosure of an address by a homeowner or for any use of an address by a contractor.
8. HippoScore Disclaimer
The HippoScore is an internal, subjective indicator generated by Lead Hippo from factors such as completeness of information, confirmation of budget and timeline, and homeowner responsiveness at the time of intake. It is not a credit score, appraisal, prediction, endorsement, or professional evaluation, and Lead Hippo disclaims all liability for any reliance on it.
9. Third-Party Services
Payments are processed by Stripe; email delivery, hosting, and other functions are supplied by third-party providers. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and Lead Hippo is not responsible for their acts, omissions, availability, or fees. Links from the Site to third-party websites are provided for convenience and are not endorsements.
10. Availability; Internet Disclaimer
Due to the nature of the internet, Lead Hippo cannot and does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation of the Site, and will not be liable for downtime, data loss, transmission errors, or delayed email delivery, including delayed delivery of Opportunity Reports, provided we make commercially reasonable efforts to deliver purchased reports promptly.
11. Release
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU RELEASE LEAD HIPPO AND ITS OWNERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS FROM ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, AND DAMAGES OF EVERY KIND, KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH ANY DEALINGS OR DISPUTES BETWEEN YOU AND ANY HOMEOWNER OR ANY OTHER USER OF THE SITE.
12. Limitation of Liability
The Limitation of Liability set out in Section 12 of the Terms of Service applies to everything covered by these Legal Disclaimers and is incorporated here by reference: no liability for indirect or consequential losses, and total aggregate liability capped at the amount paid for the Opportunity giving rise to the claim (or CAD $100 for claims unrelated to a purchase), to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
13. Reservation of Rights
Lead Hippo reserves all rights not expressly granted, including the right to refuse service, remove any listing, correct errors, and amend these Legal Disclaimers by posting a revised version on the Site.
